Fill-in-the-Blank Poem
Fill-in-the-Blank Poem
Inspired by “Where
I’m from” by George Ella Lyon
I am from a hashtag.
From Western
movies and old newspapers.
I am from
optimism and procrastination,
I am from a
deep cave that loops around through the mountains. No matter how lost one gets inside,
you can always find your way back out if you keep moving forward.
I am from
the snow at 0 degrees,
From homemade
pizza and crockpot chicken on Sunday afternoons.
I am from
the eagle with two heads.
I’m from the
movement you should join or else you’re part of the problem,
And Living
on a Prayer.
Even here,
I am from a
river,
The place
over which the eagle flies.
Doubt not,
fear not.
